BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- The Toronto Blue Jays' Triple-A farm team will be much closer to home next season after the major league baseball team reached a two-year deal with the International League Buffalo Bisons.
The deal, announced by the Bisons Tuesday, means the Blue Jays' top minor-league team will be only 100 miles from Toronto. The Blue Jays spent the past four years with their top minor-league affiliate in Las Vegas.
The switch comes after the Bisons' former parent club, the New York Mets, reached a deal to relocate their Triple-A team to Las Vegas.
Blue Jays president Paul Beeston called the move to Buffalo "a natural fit."
The Bisons had entertained an offer from the Blue Jays to be their affiliate in 2008, before aligning with the Mets.
